Lee Pace Would Really Like Ronan The Accuser To Return In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’

It’s never a big surprise when you see an actor speak out about wanting to reprise their role in a successful film franchise. When you push aside the flash and spectacle of being a well-known working actor, these are jobs and people like to work because work begets money and money begets stuff and so on. No shame in that, and if you like playing the character, even better.

Lee Pace is a well-known working actor. He played Ronan the Accuser in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which was quite successful. According to an interview with IGN, Pace would love to tackle the terroristic baddie once more. Shocking, I know.

“I love the character,” Pace enthused. “I’d love to play him again! Who knows!?!” The actor laughingly added that he is “the last person” who would know if that is a possibility.

Here’s the spoiler-y thing with that, though: to return, Ronan would need to be re-assembled. Now, that wasn’t a problem with Groot and Marvel made a literal f*ckton of money merchandising potted baby Groots. Could they do the same with Ronan? Probably not, but there are other ideas.

What if a mysterious space pie-maker found Ronan and brought him back to life with one touch? Too much? Fine, what about a flashback scene or two? Ronan could stand to be fleshed out a little bit more and it’s clear from the interview that Pace has a deep fascination with the character’s finer points.

“I loved that film,” Pace said. “I was so proud to be a part of that whole fun moment. I found the character very, very interesting, exceptionally, and in playing him — this kind of charismatic space terrorist. The idea is fascinating. I had to kind of crack the way the character thought. For me, I think he’s doing what’s right for his people. He’s going to right a wrong. He’s annihilating the weak in favor of the strong. That’s a different set of values, and he’s fighting for them.”

If neither of those work for you, maybe he could just come back as a ghost for a quick dance-off with Star-Lord in the name of fan service. I don’t know, the point is, Lee Pace is DTF (Down To Film) and I’ve clearly got some great ideas for the Guardians franchise, so Marvel…
