Press junkets can be tedious affairs, when actors and actresses are asked the same handful of questions about their latest roles, their current diets, and how they feel about feminism. After a while, it must be easy to fall into rote, robotic answers. While they were promoting their new film, How To Be Single, Leslie Mann and Dakota Johnson decided to shake things up a bit when they were interviewed by Chris Van Vliet from WSVN in Miami. Instead of just proceeding business as usual, the actresses decide to hit on their handsome interviewer, asking if he worked out and how he could possibly be single.
Van Vliet also takes advantage of the opportunity to try out a few of his best pick up lines. “Are you Google? Because you’re exactly what I’ve been searching for” is not well received, but “I don’t have a library card, but can I check you out?” definitely gets a shocked and delighted giggle out of both of the actresses. Honestly, the whole thing is so charming that you’ll wish they were promoting a more promising film. Leslie Mann is so delightful that it’s a shame that she isn’t in the next Paul Feig comedy with Melissa McCarthy, and Dakota Johnson shows more charisma in this two minute clip than she did in the entirety of 50 Shades of Grey. Here’s hoping How To Be Single overcomes a tired premise and showcases the comedic talents of this winning duo.
