What’s The Role Of Luke Skywalker In The New ‘Star Wars’ Movie?

(Possible spoilers for the upcoming Star Wars movie. Or at the very least, possible crazy theories.)

We’ve seen (and endlessly dissected) a lot in the promos building up to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the beloved, sister-kissing Luke Skywalker has been noticeably missing from pretty much all of it. J.J. Abrams said that Luke’s absence in the trailer is “no accident” (unless you’re watching this version), and Luke didn’t even make the cut in Disney’s recent character posters. So what gives? We probably won’t know for sure until December 18, but that hasn’t stopped the internet from wildly speculating.

In the video above, we delve into the swirling rumors surrounding Luke’s role in the new movie. The most credible one comes from a source on set who claims Luke spends most of the movie hiding in an ancient Sith tomb. The only way to open this tomb is with a lightsaber that just so happens to be in the hands of the new character Rey. Evidence supporting this includes Mark Hamill’s “contractually obligated” beard, and him admitting he was filming at a location in London that just might fit the look of a Sith tomb. Or maybe he’s finally made it to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!

What do you hope to see from Luke’s storyline in The Force Awakens?
