Just after hearing about the Harley Quinn spinoff moving forward, another rumored DC Extended Universe movie is back in the news. When Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2013, it put the Man Of Steel sequel on “permanent hold”. The sequel was also absent from the list of upcoming DC movies announced in October 2014. However, rumors of Superman eventually getting his standalone sequel still pop up once in awhile; as recently as five weeks ago, Man Of Steel 2 was rumored to be a “top priority” which was in “active development” at Warner. Now Henry Cavill’s agent is weighing in.
Dany Garcia, who represents Henry Cavill and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was interviewed by Newsweek, mostly about how she helped The Rock become the highest paid actor of 2016, but the Man Of Steel news was casually dropped at the end of the article:
“We’ve been in a five-month period of time where [Henry Cavill is] re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his production company Promethean], he’s filming [Justice League] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world. It’s beautifully teed up. In a year from now, or two years from now, he’s going to be a force globally.”
Oh man, so many buildings are gonna get punched. Now if only we could get George Miller to change his mind about directing it.
