After seeing the Hulk do a Marshall Faulk spin past Tony Stark’s weaponry last night, we’re down for seeing a lot more Hulk. Thankfully, those rumors about a Planet Hulk spin-off are getting more attention from Ruffalo himself, who tells IGN he’s “completely interested” in it.
IGN’s interview with Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson may spoil the ending of Avengers: Age Of Ultron if you’ve been following the rumors, but here’s the quote anyway:
Mark Ruffalo: “I think there’s a lot of places to go with [Hulk].”
Scarlett Johansson: “Like where?”
IGN: “Space?”
Ruffalo: “Well he’s going to space. Yeah, I mean there’s some talk of maybe Planet Hulk.”
IGN: “Would you like to see that?”
Ruffalo: “I’d be completely interested in entertaining that.”
Johansson: “Do they have a Starbucks there? That’s what I want to know.”
Ruffalo: [Laughs] “They don’t. It’s pretty bleak.”
This seems to confirm the possibility of the rumor that (spoiler alert?) Hulk is sent into space at the end of Avengers: Age Of Ultron because he’s too powerful, presumably paving the way for him to meet the Guardians Of The Galaxy crew in a later movie.
IGN was quick to point out that Ruffalo said he “hadn’t been involved in active talks for the project and it isn’t a part of Marvel’s announced slate”. For what it’s worth, Marvel head Kevin Feige said last July that there are no plans for a full Planet Hulk movie, but he didn’t rule out Hulk going to space at some point. Also for what it’s worth, Hulk missed out on the Captain America: Civil War storyline in the comics because he was already in space. Wait, so the memes lied to us?
