Fox just released the second trailer for The Martian, in which astronaut Mark Watney (MATT DAMON) is left behind on Mars, presumed dead, and has to figure out how to stay alive long enough for the four-year rescue mission to arrive. Help is only 140 million miles away.
The first trailer focused on Matt Damon science-ing the sh*t out of things, and the first clip focused on the humor, sarcasm, and resolve of the whole crew. This trailer focuses a little more on the people back home, hopeful that a rescue mission will be sent even though it seemingly can’t get funding (that is some depressingly gritty realism). It turns out the rescue mission is more of a mutiny. Space pirates? Space pirates.
