The Washington Redskins got a surprise pregame speech this past Sunday when Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey dropped by to say a few words before the Skins played their game against rival Philadelphia. McConaughey is a well known Washington Redskins fan despite having what appears to be no ties to the area (he’s from Texas, maybe he just developed a true hatred for the Cowboys like any good American man). Apparently the speech was just coincidental. He was in town to thank some folks from his charitable foundation Just Keep Livin and Dan Snyder invited him down to chat with the team. He took a Q&A about his fandom and got the team fired up to play the Eagles, who the Skins would actually go on to defeat in a thrilling comeback victory, 23-20.
When asked about McConaughey’s speech, Coach Jay Gruden apparently remembered nothing outside that he looked different than normal.
Matthew McConaughey spoke to the Redskins Saturday night at the team hotel. Gruden couldn't remember what he said to the team.

This isn’t McConaughey’s first visit to a team to deliver a pep talk. Last year he stopped by the University of Texas to give the Longhorns a much needed vintage McConaughey type speech to get Texas ready to take the NCAA by storm (they went 6-7, clearly his magic only works for D.C. area football).

Sadly, we don’t know if the speech was delivered in soft internal monotone while driving around L.A. at night in a Lincoln.
