April on HBO NOW will bring loads of binge-watching opportunities, with new seasons of Game of Thrones, VEEP, and Silicon Valley all starting this month. Now is the time to catch up on the current seasons of HBO originals like Vinyl, Girls, and Animals before they depart, and some major cinematic affairs are on the docket with Trainwreck and Jurassic World hitting HBO’s streaming service in April.
Here are all the new releases on HBO NOW you should be watching in April.
Jurassic World (4/23)
If you’re a fan of big-budget, disaster-type cinema, you can’t do much better on HBO NOW in April than watching Jurassic World. This movie hearkens back to the first film, injecting a heavy dosage of T-Rex testosterone into the formula, and displaying new leading man Chris Pratt’s charisma and action-film chops. The latter films in the Jurassic franchise did little to up the ante in the conceit, but Jurassic World does just that, introducing a menacing new specimen and delving audiences into the sheer nightmare of a theme park gone wrong.
Vinyl — Season 1 Finale (4/17)
Vinyl has been hit-or-miss in its initial season, but don’t that that deter you from watching one of the most interesting shows on HBO right now. The series focuses on record executive Richie — played by Bobby Cannavale, an HBO veteran with his award-winning turn in Boardwalk Empire — whose debauchery (cocaine, booze, anything he can get his hands on) has seemingly no limits. Just how low can Richie get before he hits bottom?
Veep — Season 5 Premiere (4/24)

HBO’s Veep is one of those comedies you should go out of your way to see, especially since each 30-minute episode is a brisk, laugh-a-minute endeavor. Now-President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is doing her best to stay in office despite the fact that she’s seemingly surrounded by a staff that’s as about as incompetent as a hobbled toad. Louis-Dreyfus is fantastic in her role (when isn’t she?), and the show has maintained an Emmy-winning presence since its first season.
