Nick Cave is getting ready to release a new book entitled The Sick Bag Song which is a collection of poetry, lyrics, musings and journal entries he wrote entirely on airplane sick bags. Cave did a lot of traveling in 2014 — he toured with the Bad Seeds and did press for the film 20,000 Days On Earth — and I guess he had no access to a note pad.
According to Pitchfork, two editions of the book are being released:
The book will be available in two editions. The “unlimited” edition is a hardcover copy of the book that includes the audiobook (read by Cave) and the eBook. That one is out April 8. The “limited” edition includes an actual sick bag customized by Cave with “notes, doodles or lyrics,” two vinyl LPs that comprise Cave’s reading of the book, a limited edition hardcover book, and the standard edition hardcover book. That one is out June 4.
While the “unlimited” editions are relatively inexpensive, it’s worth noting, the “limited” editions are currently listed at £750.00 ($1,128.48 US).
Cave will be conducting a short promotional tour for the book release and will be stopping in Los Angeles on April 8th, New York City on April 10th, and London on April 16th.
