Olivia Jackson, a stunt double who sustained a serious injury on the set of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in October, will reportedly lose her left arm. The professional badass, who also performed dangerous stunts in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Mad Max: Fury Road, “collided with a camera crane while performing a motorcycle stunt,” according to Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich, who added, “It’s a miracle that she survived.”
The 34-year-old “tuff little motherf*cker,” as her husband called her, told the Sun, “My left arm is paralyzed and is going to have to be amputated. My facial scarring is horrible and I wish I had my old face. But I’m truly grateful to be alive.” Considering Jackson’s list of injuries — two weeks in a coma, severed artery in her neck, nerves torn from her spinal cord, and broken ribs, clavicle, humerus, among other horrible things — it’s amazing that she is.
Karen Gillan, who Jackson (a former pro Muay Thai fighter, natch) performed stunts for on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy, sent her regards on Twitter.
Thoughts are with Olivia Jackson. The toughest, best, bravest stunt woman out there. What an inspiration.
