An Animated Movie About Pez Candy Is Now In The Works

With the popularity of those LEGO movies and the recent announcement by Sony that an Emoji film is in the works, it seems only proper that Pez candy finally gets its time in the spotlight. Yes, you read this right. According to Variety, Envision Media Arts and 88-year-old PEZ Candy Inc. have entered into an exclusive deal to make an animated feature about those quirky handheld flip-top dispensers:

“PEZ Candy is beloved by children and adults alike,” EMA CEO and founder Lee Nelson said. “With Cameron Fay we’ve created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many. Presumably the tongues as well.”

As mentioned above, Cameron Fay (The Three Stooges Movie, Brother In Law) has been hired to write the script for the film. With the enduring popularity of PEZ dispensers among children and collectors alike, I’m rather curious which dispensers get licensed for the movie and which ones get left aside. Also, isn’t it about time other retro candies get their own film adaptations? The time is apparently now.
