The first Poltergeist TV commercial is here and it might actually be a proper send up to 1981’s Tobe Hooper-directed classic. While remakes are always touch-and-go, this trailer is chock full of sequences which act as callbacks to some of the original film’s iconic moments. From the tree, to the bathroom scene, to the…well… “they’re here”, Gil Kenan looks to be taking the appropriate steps to remind audiences why the Poltergeist story still resonates.
Sam Raimi has a producer credit on the film which stars Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jane Adams and Jared Harris. Poltergeist will hit theaters on May 22nd.
