Daniel Craig has 100 million reasons, and all the Heineken he can drink, to play James Bond two more times. But he remains frustratingly undecided whether he has any 007 juice (it’s one of Q’s lesser inventions) left in him, or if he’s ready to permanently retire his tuxedo for a Stormtrooper suit. Craig better make up his mind soon, though, because he has competition.
Tom Hiddleston is the Vegas favorite to star in Bond 25 (he told Jimmy Kimmel it would be an “extraordinary opportunity,” which is how you say nothing until Craig says something), while Idris Elba is the sentimental frontrunner, especially after he took this photo. Gillian Anderson threw her name into the ring last week, tweeting, “It’s Bond. Jane Bond.” But she’s not the only actress who thinks it’s time for a woman to ask for her martini shaken, not stirred.
In an interview with Complex, Quantico star Priyanka Chopra said people tell her “all the time” that she should play a Bond Girl, but “f*ck that, I wanna be Bond.” We all want to be Bond — well, maybe not David Niven’s Bond — but Chopra has a good case. She’s an international household name, she’s as gorgeous as Craig is handsome, and she can kick ass with the best of them.
Elba is probably the “best” choice to play James Bond, but Chopra is the most intriguing outside-the-box candidate. You think the Ghostbusters outrage is bad? Imagine if an Indian woman played the world’s most famous Secret Service agent. But would Chopra care? F*ck no.
