Watching this supercut, you soon realize that a lot of people died during the journey portrayed in The Lord of The Rings trilogy. A whopping 212,470 on-screen deaths. That’s not even including what happens in The Hobbit, which would probably add a few hundred more next week.
The only problem I have with these is that there’s a lot of fudging with the numbers near the end when all of the ghosts storm Gundor at the end of the battle in Return of the King. It just shoots up from 12,000 to 200,000 in a matter of seconds. The clip says it had source help on the figures, but I’m still skeptical. Any movie that includes Gandalf’s “death” in the first movie needs to be questioned.
