It’s time to return to the Freelove Freeway, where the love is free and the freeway’s long. Yes, David Brent is back to make us laugh, cringe, and practice our best “this is happening, eh?’ expression for the camera.
Not to be confused with today’s other gabbed-about trailer reveal, Ricky Gervais has offered up a glimpse of what to expect from the former Wernham Hogg boss and what he brings to the silver screen in David Brent: Life on the Road. (Keith Bishop appearance please or GTFO.) Is the aspiring chart-topper now suave, sophisticated, and no longer prone to making everyone uncomfortable this time around? F*ck no, are you kidding? This trailer serves up all the crawl under the earth type interactions we’ve come to know and love from The Office U.K. character.
Clutching onto his rock n roll stardom dreams while working as a rep, this early look features Brent repelling the workplace with his explanation of his oh so subtle “rock n roll = sex” metaphor. Things naturally lead to horrified looks and unwanted musings about the nature of ejaculate. The mockumentary itself will also look at Brent’s ill-advised foray into touring, which seems to be going about his well as the Slough export’s attempts at edgy office banter.
David Brent: Life on the Road is lined up for an August 19 release, although its debut on this side of the pond doesn’t appear to have been sorted out yet. No word on if David Brent has learned any new dance moves in his time away.
