Would you like to spend more time with those lovable lil’ Firefly cuddlebugs from Rob Zombie’s notorious horror offerings House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects? If you are, please speak up. The nation’s most trusted Dragula operator is hinting that he might be game to bring ’em back if you are.
The former White Zombie QB has tossed a few nostalgic images on Instagram, including one that has sparked speculation we might see Sheri Moon Zombie, Sid Haig, and Bill Moseley reemerge as the characters from their mid-’00s Zombie horror output. It wasn’t a sneaky suggestion either. Zombie (the non-Sheri Moon one) plunked an image of The Devil’s Rejects on the service and stuffed the caption with some musing about the prospect of making the films into a trilogy. Not an easy feat if you remember how the last one wrapped up.
“Just curious would anybody be interested in watching another movie starring these three characters? Enough interest and anything can happen. #robzombie #SheriMoonZombie #sidhaig #billmoseley #thedevilsrejects”
If The Godfather III taught us anything, it’s that you can’t go wrong with a third movie. *watches entire Godfather trilogy* Okay, so the degree of difficulty in adding to a cinematic legacy (including one as divisive as the one we’re talking about) isn’t easy, but House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects have been championed in some critic circles as something far more brainy than its modern video nasty reputation may lead you to believe. If Zombie can maintain the mark for a third picture, we could be in for something special.
Y’know… Provided that you’re still interested in the characters and all that.
