Hey Girl, Ryan Gosling Still Can’t Believe He’s Lucky Enough To Be Part Of ‘Blade Runner 2’

Take a look around and you’ll be hard pressed to find many sci-fi fans — or movie fans in general — not so ridiculously pumped about the upcoming sequel to Blade Runner, Ridley Scott’s seminal 1982 classic. Among those who can’t hardly wait? Blade Runner 2‘s star, one Mr. Ryan Gosling.

Gosling, soon to be back on your neighborhood big screen in The Nice Guys, confirmed back in November that he will indeed join star Harrison Ford in the next installment, set for release on October 6, 2017. Robin Wright and Dave Bautista are also slated to co-star in the long-gestating, much anticipated project, which will be directed by Sicario and Prisoners helmer Denis Villeneuve.

Gosling told IGN that as a fan of the original, it’s “exciting enough” that Scott and Ford are interested in extending the Blade Runner universe and keep going. “The idea of getting to be an actor involved in that, in some way is really… I kind of can’t believe it. I’ll believe it when I’m there and we’re doing it.”

Details remain sparse regarding the sequel beyond knowledge that it will take place decades after the original ended, and that Blade Runner co-writer Hampton Fancher took a run at the script. With so much time still remaining between now and the current release date, we’re bound to find out more while we anxiously await Blade Runner 2‘s arrival. Suffice to say, if Gosling himself can’t believe it, imagine how fans who’ve waited up to 35 years for the continuation of the saga probably can’t either.
