Most of the cast members from the original Jurassic Park weren’t signed to appear in Jurassic World, although B.D. Wong returned and Chris Pratt’s character may have been this snarky kid (he isn’t) if fan theories are to be believed (they aren’t). Sam Neill‘s character of Dr. Alan Grant was sorely missed, but Neill has some theories of his own about where the good doctor was hiding.
Neill spoke to Short List (as transcribed by Bleeding Cool) while promoting Hunt For The Wilderpeople (our review here), directed by Taika Waititi, the same director who’s reuniting Neill and Jeff Goldblum for Thor: Ragnarok.
When asked about Dr. Grant’s whereabouts during the events of Jurassic World, Neill offered two options:
- “The problem is that no one knows where Alan Grant is. He’s retired from paleontology. He’s sick to death of dinosaurs and running. He’s not as fleet of foot as he was, and he’s now retired to Dayton, Ohio, and has a successful accountancy business. I think that’s what’s happened to Alan.”
- ” Either that or he’s dead.”
Well, that escalated quickly.
When asked if he’s received any offers for the Jurassic World sequel, Neill said, “The call hasn’t come. No one can find Grant. He’s disappeared. Someone found his hat, which was floating on the Hudson river, but that was the last anyone heard of him.”
