We don’t generally cover toys around here, mostly because we’d have to dedicate a dozen posts a day to all the cool stuff. But every now and then, a toy breaks out from the pack. It’s something that’s not just a toy, but a work of art. And we feel comfortable applying that term to a life-size version of sloppy eater and soft-drink pitchman Slimer.
Really, this is as close to owning Slimer as you’re going to get short of engaging in unspeakable rituals or buying your own effects company. It’s not only cast from the molds the 1984 movie’s effects team used to make the original Slimer prop, it’s made of foam rubber and latex and is scaled to be life size at three feet tall. And in order to get every detail right, it’s hand-painted. And it looks the part:
Of course, getting a three-foot tall ghost from a beloved movie is not going to be a cheap proposition, and Slimer will run you, according to current reports, $600. On the other hand, can you really put a value on having the little spud around? Really, the only way this could be better is if it were an Ecto Cooler keg, but that will just be something you have to engineer on your own.
