Sylvester Stallone, who is very good at social media, posted this picture on Instagram on Monday of this week. I have been thinking about it ever since. It’s fascinating to me. Read the caption and watch as things just get weirder and weirder.
Holding the Super talented Kate Hudson with the help of two circus Cirque du Soleil strongmen and the former prime minister of England, and great sport, Tony Blair
There is a lot going on there. It’s like the setup to a joke. “Sylvester Stallone, Kate Hudson, and Tony Blair walk into a Cirque du Soleil show and…” In the time since he posted it, in the hours and hours I’ve had it spinning around in my head, I’ve come up with two possibilities for what is happening here, and both of them twisted my brain into knots.
OPTION 1: Sylvester Stallone, Kate Hudson, and Tony Blair all attended the same Cirque du Soleil show separately. This is the more likely of the two, and the more explainable, but still, it’s super weird. Put yourself in the room. You’re sitting there watching tiny French acrobats bounce on trampolines and then you look to your left and see Rocky. Then you turn to your left and see Kate Hudson. And then you go to text your friends “lol watching dudes on trampolines with rocky and kate hudson” and you get a tap on your shoulder and a very British voice behind you asks you to put your phone away and you turn around and it’s former Prime Minister of England and noted good sport Tony Blair. You’d be so lost.
And that doesn’t even consider the part where they all got together for a picture after the show. I choose to believe Sly handed his phone to a very confused woman from Minnesota who was there on vacation, saying “Ay, youwannatake a picture of me with Kate Hudsonand Tony Blair and those guys?” while her brain furiously tried to process all the information. Either that, or the picture was taken by a fourth celebrity who made the whole thing even more random. Like… let’s say Redman.
OPTION 2: Sylvester Stallone, Kate Hudson, and Tony Blair went to a Cirque du Soleil together because they are best friends.
No way to rule either option out, really.
