Everyone will see the first Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi preview at the same time — likely this Friday during Celebration — but there’s a way you can watch the entire film before any of your jealous friends. And yes, while it’s true that jealousy is a one-way path to the Dark Side, who cares? It’s a new Star Wars movie! So, take your Jedi platitudes, Yoda, and shove it.
As they did for The Force Awakens, Omaze is offering Star Wars fans a chance to win one of three amazing prizes: a night at Skywalker Ranch, a walk-on role in the Han Solo spinoff movie, or a ticket to The Last Jedi premiere, where you’ll walk the red carpet with the cast and finally have the opportunity to tell BB-8 your its biggest fan. To enter, all you have to do is donate at least $10 (that gets you 100 entries; $25 buys you 250, etc.), with the proceeds going towards UNICEF and the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which “creates moments of joy and comfort for hospitalized children and their families.”
The partnership was announced by Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley, who, despite apparently not being in the same room when filming the video above, showcased the charming chemistry that led to their shared Yoda moment.
“Star Wars is, essentially, a story about good,” Omaze co-founder Ryan Cummins told Vanity Fair. “You already have a global audience that is mobilized and attracted to a story because of the way it inspires them in their own lives and the themes of literally fighting against the Dark Side for good. Then, suddenly, you empower those fans with the opportunity both to celebrate that property and to do so in a way that is directly impacting the lives of children around the world — you can’t go wrong.” The first campaign brought in $4.26 million for UNICEF’s Innovation Labs — this one should raise even more. It’s a sequel, after all. Everything’s bigger in sequels.
