Frank Caliendo Reacts To The New ‘Star Wars’ Trailer As A Bunch Of ESPN Personalities

Well, you may have heard that the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released on Monday night. You may have been one of the people irrationally excited for said trailer. We promise you weren’t alone.

But let’s take a moment to appreciate the true winners in the Star Wars hysteria: Disney. They own Lucasfilm, the studio that made the film. They also own ESPN, the network on which the new trailer debuted. While far more people likely saw the trailer on YouTube rather than wait for halftime of a truly terrible Eagles-Giants game, Disney had to count every extra eyeball on ESPN as a win. Of course, they’re going to milk that cash cow for all it’s worth, so they need to keep people talking about it on the network they own.

But how do you shoehorn discussion of a sci-fi movie into the programming of a network ostensibly devoted to all sports, all the time? More broadly, how do you connect two completely unrelated entertainment franchises for the purpose of cross promotion? BAH GAWD, THAT’S FRANK CALIENDO’S MUSIC!

Yes, whenever you need harmless comedy designed to fill airtime and make the on-air personalities writhe in somehow probably-genuine laughter, call on the played-out-yet-technically-impressive impersonation stylings of Caliendo. As always, he gets the impressions down cold and applies them well to the subject matter. Keep doing you, Frank.
