Almost exactly four years ago, it was reported that a movie about the Chilean mine disaster of 2010 was in the works. Now, Warner Bros. has premiered the first official trailer for The 33, which tells the story of the men who were trapped for 69 days at the bottom of a gold and copper mine in Copiapo, Chile.
Antonio Banderas leads the cast as Mario Sepulveda, a miner on the verge of retirement. Joining Banderas in the film are Lou Diamond Phillips, Juliette Binoche, Gabriel Byrne and Rodrigo Santoro. The 33 was adapted from Hector Tobar’s book Deep Down Dark and will hit theaters on November 13.
