The Rock is promising an entirely new Hobbs in his first exclusive look at the character in Fast 8. Not only does he look like buff Lorenzo Lamas in Renegade mixed with the beard of David Lo Pan, but he’s also got a description that sells the character for this new Fast & Furious entry:
When you strip a man of all he has. All that’s important to him. You force him to return to his roots.. and sometimes that’s a very dangerous and twisted place.
If I was going to return for another FAST & FURIOUS I wanted to come in and disrupt the franchise in a cool way that got fans fired up and their blood pumping to see a new version of Hobbs and his “Daddy’s gotta go to work” mentality and set the table in a cool way for where the character goes in the future.
Maybe it’s a spinoff movie. Maybe it’s more #FF movies. Or hell maybe Hobbs just gets on his motorcycle and rides off into the sunset.
Seriously, just make a Renegade movie now. Do it. The Rock is Reno Raines, formerly Hobbs from the Fast & Furious franchise, and he’s on the run after being framed. Give us this gem!
Elsewhere on the Fast & Furious beat, Vin Diesel posted this lovely montage of his co-star Charlize Theron which looks like something you’d see on his MySpace page:
I would pay to spend a day in either one of these guy’s heads, like some sort of Being John Malkovich situation. It’d be entirely worth it and it also seems like they have a lot of fun when on the set together. The only troubling thing is that I believe The Rock’s new goatee is completely fake. He gains and loses those very same points with that.
