There are all sorts of reasons to get worked up into an excited lather over the latest Thor big screen offering, but we’re tempted to put the presence of director Taika Waititi at the top of the list. After all, his body of work is tremendous (Hunt for the Wilderpeople, What We Do in the Shadows) and the way he’s spoken about tackling a Thor + Hulk film suggests a welcome detour from the standard Marvel style. In a Reddit chat yesterday, Waititi cranked up our interest even more.
The Kiwi director participated in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session and it’s hard to imagine his answers disappointing anyone. One thing that Waititi was happy to share was that the third Thor movie is going to be a little nuts. In a good way, of course.
“I think (Thor: Ragnarok) will be one of the most adventurous and most ‘out there’ of all the Marvel movies,” offered Waititi. “It’s a crazy movie.”
That sounds awfully nice, doesn’t it? Guardians of the Galaxy was considered “out there” and everyone loved it and hugged it and squeezed it do death. Also this Q&A portion should inspire some excited squeals:
Q: Considering the retro logo, can we expect an 80’s vibe in Thor: Ragnarok?
A: You can. And more.
Consider this logo your beacon of intrigue and hope for another excellent entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Or have a moan that it’ll be different. The first option will make you a lot more fun at parties.
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 3, 2017. No word yet on if Chris Hemsworth’s “hot dad” will be added in as a major character due to popular demand.
