There’s been rumor for a while that a sequel to Top Gun is in the works. It’s been three decades since Tom Cruise originally played the role of Maverick in the high-flying action movie. Jerry Bruckheimer has been aiming to make Top Gun 2 for quite a while, and according to Reuters, Cruise would be down to suit up again but only if the movie uses 100% real jets. In other words, no CGI, allowed:
“It would be fun. I would like to get back into those jets,” Cruise told Reuters at the London premiere of his latest action film “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” on Saturday night.
“It would have to be practical. I don’t want any CGI jets. I want to shoot it like how we shot the first one.”
The 53-year actor is in the middle of doing his press tour for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, which opens this Friday. I completely agree there definitely should not be any CGI in the new film. But hey, why don’t we up the ante and have Maverick clinging onto the outside of these fighter jets? I mean, come on…a precedent has been set here, people!
