Next to Jack the Ripper, Ronnie and Reggie Kray are arguably England’s most notorious criminals. They’ve been the subject of numerous books, songs, and have already been the subject of one movie already. Brian Helgeland (Payback, 42) and Tom Hardy (Mad Max Fury Road, The Dark Knight Rises) are telling the tale of these identical twin gangsters one more time with Legend. Also starring is Emily Browning, David Thewlis, Christopher Eccleston, and Chazz Palminteri.
In the 1990 film The Krays, the roles of Reggie and Ronnie Kray were performed by real life twins Martin and Gary Kemp of the band Spandau Ballet (we know this much is true). In this film, Helgeland and Hardy are pulling a Parent Trap and having Hardy play both roles himself.
Legend hits theaters September 9.
