Some Ukrainian ‘Star Wars’ Fans Transformed This Lenin Statue Into Darth Vader

It’s been quite a few weeks for Star Wars fans. Not only did the newest trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit the Internet, but we also got this sweet looking statue thanks to the fine folks in Ukraine. Most of your old school Soviet relics featuring Lenin are being taken down across the former USSR according The Verge, but this particular statue in Odessa seems to have found a different fate.

Artist Alexander Milov proposed to turn the statue into the Dark Lord of The Sith and it was accepted, allowing him to change the former Soviet leader into our Jedi turned Sith. The results were pretty spectacular, as you can see above and below. I am a confused on the description of the statue’s fate from the Lenin Statue’s site:

In mid-October 2015, the monument was transformed into a monument to Darth Vader, the hero of the fantastic saga “Star Wars.”

I guess Vader is technically the true hero of the series. He does do a lot of heroic things up to a certain point and he’s the one who eventually kills the Emperor. Although I haven’t watched the newest versions of the original trilogy, does Vader even fight Luke in the end? I would assume they all go fly World War II planes and hang with Jar Jar Binks at this rate. Statue looks cool, though.
