Just when you thought it was safe to go back online, Universal comes and hits you with this titan of parody/faux trailers. When Marty McFly travels to the distant future of 2015 in Back to the Future Part II, he’s hit with all the crazy developments of the wacky future. Self-tying toes, hoverboards, auto-drying clothes, flying cars, and incredibly realistic 3-D sharks. The last part is part of the marquee for Jaws 19, the latest installment of the franchise that is set to hit theaters on October 21 of that possible future.
And now it might hit theaters in ours, all thanks to this trailer by Universal (not really, but it’s still cool). It takes us through the “history” of Jaws, including the very real Jaws 3-D with Lou Gossett, Jr. and the incredibly bad Jaws: The Revenge, the film that paid for Michael Caine’s house. Those pale in comparison to the later Jaws sequels we get, including a Jaws family film, a Jaws space adventure, Jaws taking on a Russian shark, and two Jaws prequels.
Don’t forget about the eventual gritty Jaws reboot we will get, featuring a lady Quint and an alcoholic Brody who is hunting the shark to win back the love of his wife. And Hooper is now a dolphin.
