Vin Diesel has been wanting to star in a Kojak movie since at least 2012, when two Johnny English writers (things were CRAZY three years ago) updated the TV series for a “contemporary film.” The project obviously went nowhere, but Deadline reports that Philip Gawthorne, whose credits include two episodes of EastEnders, has been hired to make lollipops badass again.
Vin Diesel will produce with Samantha Vincent for their Universal-based One Race Films alongside Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark, who board the project with their Universal-based Bluegrass Films banner. Kojak is intended to be a starring vehicle for Diesel. (Via)
