It’s sad to think that at this time next year, we’ll be judging some poor bastard’s attempt to top the job that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been doing as hosts of The Golden Globes for the last three years. But all things must pass, and they’re leaving on a high.
Lucky for us, Fey and Poehler won’t leave us completely devoid of laughter and joy in the midst of the winter. They’ve got a movie coming out next Christmas that should held us cope with that the void that they’re leaving behind at the Golden Globes (and on our television sets, now that Parks and Recreation is joining 30 Rock in TV Comedy Heaven). The premiere for the Sisters teaser trailer (above) dropped last night during the Golden Globes, and while it only lasts about 20 seconds, it’s a good 20 seconds. Which is a thing that people might say if they wanted to make a semi-self-deprecating sex joke that I have no interest in making.
In the film, which was directed by Jason Moore and written by longtime Saturday Night Live writer Paula Pell, Fey and Poehler play sisters who throw one last party at their parents house before it gets sold off. There’s also ample dancing, some dope baton twirling, and Tina Fey asking the world if it’s ready for the jelly that she possesses.
While they weren’t seen in the trailer, Maya Rudolph and Kate McKinnon are also in the film, though I’m not sure which one of them will play the Swoosie Kurtz role. (Anyone? Did anyone actually get that joke?) Sisters opens on December 18, 2015.
