As evidenced by his multi-team pro baseball career in spring training this year, funnyman Will Ferrell is quite the athlete.
The USC alum and former high-school basketball player got the chance to once again show off his skills when he took on a lucky fan named Derek Masi in a 40-yard dash at the Trojans stadium on Saturday, and what do you know, the 48-year-old actor came out on top in a photo finish.
The fan gave it a good fight, but he was no match for the long strides of the 6-foot-3 Ferrell, who showed off pretty great form and picked up the win without even bothering to take off his lanyard.
In addition to his baseball abilities on display in Ferrell Takes The Field, Ferrell has several other roles in which he plays a great athlete, such as Blades of Glory, Semi-Pro and of course, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. He’s also set to play Bobby Riggs in the upcoming Match Maker based on the famous Battle of the Sexes match between Riggs and Billie Jean King, so perhaps all of his fake athletic prowess is beginning to take form in real life.
