We’ve known for a little while now that Coldplay will be the main musical act during the halftime of the upcoming Super Bowl 50. However, these days one big musical act is not enough to satisfy the audiences looking for a little entertainment whilst they eat their various snack foods and wait for the increasingly tedious commercials to commence. Take, for example, last year, when Katy Perry brought out Missy Elliott and those sharks that amused people on the internet for, like, a minute. This year’s Super Bowl shall be no different.
Since basically the moment Coldplay was announced as the halftime act, Beyoncé has been rumored to be joining them upon whatever garishly elaborate stage they are on. Well, according to Entertainment Tonight, it has now been confirmed that Beyoncé will indeed be joining Coldplay on stage. It’s a risky gamble for Coldplay because the presence of Beyoncé tends to overshadow everybody else, but she also appears on the song “Hymn for the Weekend” on Coldplay’s new album A Head Full of Dreams, so it makes sense for her to at least make a cameo.
Also joining Coldplay? Bruno Mars, who also played a recent halftime show. It’s a real cavalcade of stars for this year’s halftime show. There’s a little something for everybody… except the people who just want them to get back to the football.
