Gucci Mane already grabbed a Fader cover this year, along with several other long pieces chronicling his recent release from prison, and today he adds another one to that list. Gucci appeared on XXL‘s latest issue alongside Young Thug. The storied hip-hop magazine dubbed them “‘the protégé and the professor,” and sat them both down for long interviews for the cover story.
The story isn’t online yet, but the image of them side by side decked out in fur is already making the rounds today. This is almost as fantastic as the time Gucci Instagrammed himself decked out in Alexander McQueen. Check it out below:
Young Thug’s meteoric rise mostly took place while Gucci was in prison, so the chance for them to connect — both musically and on a personal level — is something that has fans particularly excited. The cover is also further proof of the way Atlanta has become the center of the conversation when it comes to hip-hop in 2016. Right after he got out of prison Gucci released Everybody Looking, which had a Thug feature on “Guwop Home,” and Gucci also appeared on Thugger’s Jeffery on the track “Floyd Mayweather” along with Travis Scott.
Looks like the two will be working together more than ever in 2017. Keep an eye out for tidbits from the full cover story when it officially drops.
