With the award for Top Artist, Drake became the current record-holder for most Billboard Music Awards, taking the title from Adele, who he was careful to shout-out in his acceptance speech for the final award of the night.
Other awards The Boy gets to take back to his mansion in Toronto: Top Male Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Album for Views, and Top R&B Song for “One Dance,” — thirteen in total. That’s a pretty enormous number, but when you consider that it’s pretty close to the number of tracks Views had on it, then things start to make a little more sense.
His dad and his whole crew, including Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, joined him onstage for his acceptance speech, and yes, Papa Graham was decked out head to toe in purple suede, just like Drake called out earlier in yet another acceptance speech. Seeing him up there with his whole crew was definitely a a positive way to close out the night. Especially considering he shouted out Wayne and Nick, proof positive that the Young Money family is fully back together. Hopefully for good.
