Jeezy found his way back to where it all started with the release of his new album Trap or Die 3. Back to the corners. Back to posting up at the car wash. Back to chopping up at the kitchen. Back to the hood side of things.
Fifteen years after making his official debut, the leader of the trap is back in familiar surroundings with the third installment of his series, hosted by DJ Folk. The project’s a change of course from Church in These Streets, the more politically-mind project Pastor Young released in 2015. TOD3 is return to the 808s and dope talk that won him multiple “Trapper of the Year” awards long ago.
The 16-song effort has more than it’s share of features as Lil Wayne (“Bout That”), French Montana (“Going Crazy”), Chris Brown, Yo Gotti and the late Bankroll Fresh occupy the album’s guest slots. Snow’s current go-to guy D-Rich handles a bulk of the production but everybody’s favorite person to hear Jeezy with is Shawty Redd so it’s good to see he provided the score for three tracks, including the album opener, “In the Air,” whose ominous sound sets the vibe of the project.
