First off, Conor McGregor beating Nate Diaz in their second fight really was the best outcome. When the fight was first announced ahead of UFC 200, the pushback was real. But as the fight got closer, it was all anyone can think about. The best part? The fight friggin’ delivered. Conor won a close decision, looked good doing it, and redeemed himself (despite the whole jogging away thing). Meanwhile, Nate created a brand for himself as the guy who points, laughs and flicks people off while wearing the crimson mask. It was a win-win.
Conor: 1. Nate: 1. Somehow, both of their stars have grown even brighter, and the sport is bigger thanks to these two men. I remember when MMA was banned from PPV, now we have claymations that are perfectly immortalizing one of the greatest fight feuds ever dropping hours after the fight is in the books. What a time to be alive. So watch as we get a lesson in fight history, showing the events of UFC 196, then bounce to a glorious Conor declaring his return.
Oh, and Conor chops Nate’s leg to the beat of Biggie’s “Hypnotize” while Nate talks sh*t. Could this be more perfect? It has all the charm of 1964’s Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. Nate is Rudolph and his whole face is red, Conor is Santa, I guess.
