Felice Herrig has a bone to pick with the American Ninja Warrior course. The UFC strawweight and long-time combat sports vet has been haunted since her fateful first trip to the course, which only lasted 3.3 seconds. For someone like Felice, this performance was unacceptable.
So she’s back, ahead of her UFC on FOX 20 fight against Kailin Curran in Chicago, and she did much better. The current, more difficult course is even more intense than the one she failed so spectacularly at the first time around, but on this run she’s quite impressive. She takes her time (the announcers revealed that she felt like she rushed her first attempt) and makes it to the second stage after a dramatic near-fall. It’s the “log roll bridge climb thingy of doom” (that’s the scientific name of the obstacle) that does her in for good.
Props to Felice, who, over her 13-year fighting career, has always kept it fun inside and outside of the cage. Hopefully, she gets a third shot on American Ninja Warrior. I’ll watch. But for now, hopefully, she’s focusing 100% on her upcoming fight. Felice is 1-1 in the UFC with he latest loss coming to Paige Van Zant over a year ago in April of 2015 at Machida vs. Rockhold.
