Professional blowhard Stephen A. Smith made commentary upon Women’s World Cup soccer on last night’s SportsCenter Top 10 list. The results did not surprise.
During a clip of the Norway-Germany game, Germany failed to stop Norway’s beautiful free kick goal from Maren Mjelde. Perhaps one of the German players moved ever so slightly away from the ball. Tim Legler let fly with “those young ladies don’t want to catch one in the grill.” Not the greatest comment, but Smith added his own flair to the conversation: “They might not want to mess their hair up.”
Not only did Smith own his joke, but he said it twice! Smith doesn’t get other people’s jokes, but he’ll make sure you hear his attempts at humor. Why does ESPN allow Smith to comment on anything related to women?
