In an advertisement on their website for DVDs of the show’s second season, AMC accidentally let the cat out of the bag regarding a major upcoming plot point of “The Walking Dead.” Ruh roh.
Now, I can’t really cover this story without discussing the spoiler itself, and I don’t want a million people yelling at me in the comments, so I’m going to write BIG HONKING SPOILER ALERT in all caps and post this video of a koala running down a hallway, then get into it after the jump. If you want to read on, feel free. If not, don’t scroll past the video. You’ve officially been warned.
From E! Online:
Shane’s (Jon Bernthal) a goner.
In the AMC website ad for The Walking Dead Limited Edition Season 2 Blu-ray 4 Disc Set (available in August), the bonus features are described as including “the making of the barn, an extended zombie gut scene, Shane’s last episode…”
Eek. Heads are gonna roll after this goof—and thanks to the zombie series, we’ve got a pretty graphic idea of what that looks like.
And now we know what Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd meant when she teased the second-season “jaw-dropping” finale. At the winter TCAs, Hurd told us, “I have a feeling even with inveterate tweeters during episodes…there may be some significant periods of silence, because people may not be able to click on their keyboards.”
So there you go. This doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone who read the comic books, but still, someone at AMC really Britta’d things up big time. I’ll let disappointed Anderson Cooper sum up my feelings on this one.
