Between our GIFs, episode discussions, power rankings, and thoroughly obsessive re-watches I was pretty sure we had already examined everything from Sunday night’s Breaking Bad return far more closely than sanity would suggest we should, but then I stumbled onto these comparisons of Walter White walking into his house on his three different birthdays and it’s just too interesting not to share. Kind of like the comparisons of Walt with a gun in his face, only substitute firearms with a swinging door.
Before we get to the imagery though let’s first revisit a more-relevant-than-ever art discussion between Jesse and Jane as pointed out by a r/BreakingBad fan:
Jesse Pinkman: You know, I don’t get it. Why would anyone paint a picture of a door, over and over again, like, dozens of times?
Jane Margolis: But it wasn’t the same.
Jesse Pinkman: Yeah, it was.
Jane Margolis: It was the same subject, but it was different every time. The light was different, her mood was different. She saw something new every time she painted it.
Let that forgotten foreshadowing sink in and then take a look at these…

And now in GIF form…
So, um, yeah. Gilligan & Co. may have thought this one through. Even the peephole install?
