One of the things that Phil Robertson’s defenders pointed to in the wake of the scandal that erupted over his comments in GQ was the part of the article where the Duck Dynasty patriarch said this: “We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus.”
Yeah. About that. From a 2010 speech during the Wild Game Supper at the Berean Bible Church in Pennsylvania:
“Women with women, men with men, they committed indecent acts with one another, and they received in themselves the due penalty for their perversions,” Robertson said in the 2010 speech. “They’re full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, God-haters. They are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil.
