A ‘Spider-Man’ Crew Member Offered Joe Manganiello $100 To Punch Tobey Maguire In The Face

I’ve never really considered Tobey Maguire the person that much. Besides belonging to the Leonardo DiCaprio’s infamous “p*ssy posse” and a relationship with Kirsten Dunst during filming of Spider-Man, I never knew much about the guy. But last week, I read an excerpt from a book Molly Bloom is publishing — Molly’s Game: From Hollywood’s Elite to Wall Street’s Billionaire Boys Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker — about a high-stakes underground poker regular poker game that Tobey Maguire was part of. And after reading only one excerpt from that book, I came away with the inescapable conclusion that Tobey Maguire is a psychotic douchebag.

Before reading that excerpt, I wouldn’t have thought much of the story that Joe Manganiello relays on now cancelled The Pete Holmes Show. Basically, during filming of Spider-Man — where Manganiello played Flash Thompson — an electrician on the set offered him $100 to punch Tobey Maguire in the face during a scene in which Manganiello’s character doesn’t actually land the punch. Before that poker story, I might have thought the electrician just thought it would be a funny thing to do. After that poker story, I’m pretty sure it’s because the electrician thought Tobey Maguire f**king deserved it.
