The Walking Dead is one of the biggest shows on television, which makes it all the more impressive that, two weeks out from its seventh season premiere, no one has spoiled the cliffhanger that’s had everyone talking all summer. The show ended season six with the long-awaited arrival of new baddie Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and it didn’t take long before he busted out his baseball bat Lucille and bashed in the head of one of the show’s main characters.
Who got killed remains a major mystery (despite our best efforts to uncover it), but as the pressure ratchets up on that question, AMC seems to be slowly putting out more and more information to try and keep everyone invested without giving away the whole thing. The latest major revelation as season seven quickly approaches comes via Jeffrey Dean Morgan in a Den Of Geek magazine released at New York Comic Con.
“Negan’s not just going to kill one person in [the premiere],” he revealed. “He’s not afraid of bashing in skulls.”
That’s some pretty huge news, but does it mean exactly what we think it does? Will Negan actually kill two of Rick’s party as they lay prostrate in the dirt in front of him? Or is this deceptively worded, and it just means Negan will kill someone else further into the episode? Perhaps a more expendable and less heart wrenching character from the Hilltop Colony or a goof in rollerblade pads from The Kingdom?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan just said a lot, but didn’t actually reveal anything. The mystery of who dies and who lives for The Walking Dead season seven premiere remains a painful mystery, one that will only be solved when the show finally returns on Oct. 16.
