FlipBoardBy now you’ve probably seen the new DirecTV ad, starring everyone’s favorite Russian billionaire and everyone’s favorite-er mini giraffe. Of course, the original “Opulence, I has it” spot was the rarest of commercials: an ad that aired several times every NFL Sunday without driving me into irrational fits of hatred. The new edition (video below) isn’t quite as charming (for starters, there aren’t dogs playing poker), but it does have a guy lifting gold weights, sexy women, and the pygmy giraffe running on a treadmill while watching giraffes running in the wild on a flatscreen TV. Yup, that’ll do.
By the way, I met the opulence guy when I was down in Dallas for Super Bowl stuff. I was starstruck.
I was kinda sad that he has a British accent in real life, though. I think he should be in character any time he puts that turtleneck on.
Mini giraffe on a treadmill was the only way to follow up the last post. That mini giraffe almost made me not notice the two smoking hot chicks in that commercial.

He’s not my favorite Russian billionaire Matt. That title belongs to the owner of my Chelsea, Roman Abramovich.
The next commercial should have him surrounded by a chours of nude women humming the Tetris theme!
The commercial nicely stays in character with “More on The Facebook” at the end.
He’s the new bad guy on Criminal Minds…
I drove my wife nuts repeating the first commercial over and over again at random. Fast forward a couple of months and she sees the dude in a Criminal Minds episodes but couldn’t figure out where she’d seen him. She almost filed for divorce when I reminded her by playing the commercial.
