Netlix confirmed today that it is picking up House of Cards for a third season. Another season of underhanded political tricks. Another season of Kevin Spacey breaking the fourth wall. Another season of ribs. This is terrific news.
A Netflix rep confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that House of Cards has received an early renewal, and production is set to begin soon. House of Cards was originally packaged as a two-season pick-up, though all parties have spoken optimistically about the show running longer.
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos has said that he wanted more from the show. “I think if you look at the original House of Cards, there was a natural third season, and we could go well beyond that,” he said at a November panel. [THR]
Okay, just hear me out on this one, since I know the third season hasn’t been written yet: A Frank Underwood/Alex Kerkovich rib-eating contest. Maybe it could be part of a campaign event in Chicago. Or maybe she challenged him and he couldn’t say no. Or maybe that’s just how we elect presidents now. I don’t care. It’s not important. What’s important is that we get Kevin Spacey and Elisha Cuthbert together and make it happen. For America.
