The Olympics are going on and while it’s the summer version that’s about to wrap up and not the winter one, that doesn’t mean we can’t indulge in a little quality time with one of our favorite gold-medal winning figure skaters, Kristi Yamaguchi, right?
Clearly, the producers of Celebrity Family Feud agree because they brought Yamaguchi, her husband former NHL player and U.S. Olympian Bret Hedican and their family on the show Saturday. What happened next, though, carried things into the dangerous realm of potentially PG-13-rated territory.
Host Kenan Thomps… er, Steve Harvey, asked Hedican based on a survey of 100 married men, “sometimes I think my wife is going to BLANK me to death.” Hedican, takes a beat, breathes and responds, “Spank.” And laughs were had by all.
Except Yamaguchi, that is. See, she’s a little embarrassed. Maybe she and Hedican are into that sort of thing only she never expected he’d tell a couple hundred thousand people on national TV one random, summer Saturday night. Harvey, for his part, seemed to love the response, as he pantomimes ice skating while milking the situation for all its worth. Because when you’re the host of Celebrity Family Feud, that’s what you do.
We may not have ever really understood how much more we wanted to know about Kristi Yamaguchi and her marriage. But thanks to Harvey and friends, we do now. And thank goodness for that.
