It looks like we’re going to get an eyeful of Daredevil‘s second season on Monday — at least, that’s what you hope is going to happen. The previews posted on Marvel’s social media seem a bit ominous at presenting The Punisher as a harder edge than Matt Murdock’s heroic character.
Some of the promotional material we’ve seen to this point shows a very gritty Punisher and some plot points that have actually been torn from the pages of the comics. As Coming Soon notes, the entire season seems to hinge on the ideas hinted at in the teaser above and the core of the characters in the original books:
Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios. Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.
Should be good, especially given the high quality of last season. Seeing The Punisher finally get a chance to fool around in the Marvel Cinematic Universe should be a nice change too.
