You’ll Cheese Yourself After Seeing The Movie That May Have Inspired ‘South Park’

One of the most ambitious episodes of South Park to date — the Casa Bonita of creativity, if you will — is Season 12’s “Major Boobage,” an extended parody of the 1981 Canadian cult “classic” Heavy Metal. Y’know, it’s the one where Mr. Kitty pisses on Kenny’s face, then he trips balls and imagines a world where everything is boobs, and Don Felder and Sammy Hagar songs are as ubiquitous as “Hey, Soul Sister,” obviously. You’d think that creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are fans of the film, but in their creator commentary for “Boobage,” Parker says, “No, I think it sucks. I thought it sucked when I was 10, or whenever it came out. I think it sucks now.”

Yet, it certainly seems like they were inspired by Metal, as noticed by a Redditor.

It’s not exact, but the colors are close, and the squatty guy on the right — I saw Heavy Metal as a teen, and, like most teenagers, I don’t remember names, only boobs — shares a resemblance to Cartman. If he raps about being a west side cowboy with a frog, then we’ll know it’s legit.
