The Grizzlies Are So Desperate To Keep Mike Conley That They’re Using Justin Timberlake To Help

The Memphis Grizzlies have invested a lot of time into their long-tenured core of Mike Conley, Zach Randolph, and Marc Gasol, and they’re doing everything it takes to keep them together. Randolph is on the downside of his career, but both Conley and Gasol should be in the late stages of their peak athleticism. Gasol was locked up long term last offseason without drama, and now it’s Conley’s turn to hit the market. According to a new ESPN report, however, there might be a little more uncertainty this time around.

According to Ian Begley, Memphis management is “growing a bit concerned” that Conley could explore his options – something that would seriously upset his teammates – and they’re amping up their recruitment pitch with some star power: Justin Timberlake.

TImberlake is a minority owner of the Grizzlies, and he’ll apparently appear in a video the team is putting together to convince Conley to stay. We can only imagine what he’ll say or do on the video – if he talks, he’ll likely say something about how closely the city of Memphis identifies with its team, and how Conley is one of the faces of the team, and by extension, the city.

Or he could just sing and promise a private concert or something if Conley decides to stay. Whatever he does, we doubt that JT will be the deciding factor, but he can’t hurt the cause either. Unless of course he decided to make a bad parody song called “ConleyBack.”
